Otter Enables Transcription For Google Meet With New Chrome Extension
Speech to text transcription service Otter.ai has seen heavy use during 2020 and the rise of video conferencing tools Zoom and Teams. In the last year, Otter launched Otter Live Video Meeting Notes for Teams and Zoom Pro subscribers or higher, and live transcription for Zoom.
Otter.ai can now transcribe Google Meet calls in real-time with a new Chrome extension. This means post-meeting transcripts from Google Meet calls will be available on Otter.ai’s platform and open to all Otter.ai customers, basic, pro, and business.

Sam Liang, CEO, and founder of Otter.ai. said:
Google Meet is a highly effective video conferencing tool and is used by over a hundred million people every day for business collaboration. We have seen with our first integration into Zoom that making it more seamless to use Otter increases note-taking and productivity for users, we are excited to offer this same type of seamless integration for Google Meet users.
What this means for users is that Google Meetings will be transcribed in real-time, and transcripts will be saved right to their Otter account so they can access and share them later.
Chrome users can install the Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store. After installation, it can be found under the Extensions shortcut on the Chrome Browser. After users sign into their Otter.ai accounts, the integration will be available for use during a Google Meet call.
Once the call starts, click on the Otter.ai extension icon to open the extension. Click on the Record button and click the CC button to open live captions.
Post-meeting users have the ability to highlight, share, add images, search by keyword, and review a transcript, after a recorded Google Meet call.
